About the Webinar:
Traffic congestion poses significant challenges to communities, impacting economic productivity, public health, and environmental sustainability. Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) play a crucial role in addressing congestion through transportation policy and planning, but many MPO Board members lack essential knowledge of their role in influencing congestion management initiatives. This webinar covers the development and implementation of a training program aimed at educating MPO Board members on the complexities of multi-modal congestion and empowering them to enact effective solutions. Drawing on insights from transportation experts and collaboration with leading organizations in the field, the training program addresses key areas including federal regulations, MPO responsibilities, and congestion reduction techniques. Through a systematic approach, the training program equips MPO Board members with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate the intricacies of congestion management and make informed decisions that positively impact their communities. By bridging the gap between knowledge and action, this research contributes to the advancement of transportation planning and management practices, fostering more sustainable and efficient urban transportation systems nationwide.
