About the Webinar:
Citizen education is needed to guide the public toward a better understanding of how they can engage in the transportation decision-making process and how projects can and are being shaped to advance important issues. This webinar will explore how the Tampa-Bay Citizen’s Academy on Transportation (TB-CAT) was developed and implemented as a resource to support the City of Tampa and its residents. The presenters will share how the virtual citizen’s academy facilitates community empowerment though education and by enabling collaboration between local agencies and residents. The presenters will discuss lessons learned and key factors that contributed to the course’s success in year 1 and year 2, including partnerships with the City of Tampa and other local agencies, course evaluations, class field trips, and class projects. The webinar will include a discussion of the current plans for TB-CAT, including the development of a guidebook for virtual Citizen’s Academies.
