The first session for the Tampa Bay Citizens Academy on Transportation (TB-CAT) was held on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. Each week students will learn about an area of transportation and apply their knowledge to a class project. This 8-week “virtual” course targeted toward City of Tampa residents interested in transportation kicked off with great enthusiasm from participants.
Presenters include transportation leaders and staff from the City of Tampa, Hillsborough County, the Hillsborough County Transportation Planning Organization (TPO), the Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART), the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR), consultant firms, and advocacy groups within the City. Through this project, students attending the University of South Florida will work with class participants, providing them with technical assistance on their projects, as well as engaging in the community’s transportation interests. The TB-CAT sessions will continue until December 8, 2021. The program is led by CUTR’s Tia Boyd and Jason Jackman.
