The Tampa Bay Citizens Academy on Transportation is a free eight-week virtual e-learning course to familiarize citizens with transportation in the City of Tampa. Participants will learn from local subject matter experts on how transportation decisions are made, how projects are funded, equity considerations, and infrastructure within the City of Tampa. In addition, USF faculty and City staff will help guide you through a project of your choosing to help you be a more effective ambassador for improving transportation and equity in your community. Classes will begin on October 13, 2021, and end on December 8, 2021. Live class sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 5pm to 7pm. Sessions will be recorded and available for registered students only. Registration is limited to twenty-five students and will close on September 30th, 2021. Sign up now so you don’t miss out!

Throughout the course, participants will be able to apply what they’ve learned to a class project that addresses a local transportation issue that they are passionate about. At the end of the course, participants will be able to present their project to the class and a panel of subject matter experts.
At the end of the course, citizens will know more about transportation and planning in the city. Additionally, citizens who have completed the academy will be able to serve as their community’s ambassadors for transportation equity and improvements. Enrollment in the Citizens Academy is limited to 25 participants and is open to residents of the City of Tampa only. Registrations are taken on a first-come, first-serve basis. If space is unavailable, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list for the next session. Classes will begin on October 13, 2021, and end on December 8, 2021. Live class sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 5 PM to 7 PM EST. Sessions will be recorded and available for registered students only.
